Teaching Style: I place great importance on a teaching style that truly cares about each student, looking not just for a mastering of music but also for the hidden musician in each individual child. I believe that encouragement and positive motivation are keys to successful learning; therefore, I strive to ensure that my students leave their lessons not only with a sense of direction for practice and improvement, but also with a sense of encouragement and positive feedback.
Experience: I began teaching piano lessons at the age of fourteen and have since expanded my knowledge by taking several piano pedagogy classes from Mrs. Linda Fast and from Valley City State University, where I also completed two music theory classes. Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Music and continue to study piano privately with Hannah Cho.
Studio: I currently teach out of a private studio in Centralia.
Recitals: Two recitals are held annually – a spring recital, and a Christmas recital.
Group Lessons: Two group lessons are held annually in which the students learn about a composer or musical history, play games, etc. These are always fun opportunities for the students to meet fellow-pianists around their age while simultaneously learning about music.
Additional Opportunities: Being a member of Washington State Music Teacher’s Association allows me to provide my students with extra opportunities such as the annual Music Artistry Program, the Ribbon Festival, and the Piano Play-offs.
